Video Gaming entertainment is a very popular form of entertainment. This module talks about the video game experience, addictive behavior, cyberbullying, parental controls and resources for determining age appropriate gaming.
Managing video game entertainment is heavily dependent upon the development of rules, expectations and if the Video Game console is considered a home device or a child device. We strongly encourage spending some time in the Video Game module to learn more about video games, and the effects on children.
Aside from the rules, the manufacturers of the game consoles do have parental control settings. Much of the video game software also has configuration and settings available to the parent to change, restrict or modify the game play experience.
The parental controls will be a positive step. But to resist the culture of trolling, or other rage inducing responses, online game play could be restricted to remove the interaction of voice and texting.
Here is a brief list of Lessons contained inside of this module.
